Week 19, 2020 - From MCO to CMCO

It's the first week of work in this CMCO (Conditional Movement Control Order) for most people (mostly SMEs, professional services, and what ever industries that are allowed to open and operate). Luckily it's a 4 day work week because Thursday was Vesak. The only good thing about the schools, etc not reopened is the sweet, sweet midday traffic and not have to deal with the people responsible for transporting said students on the road. Between Ramadan and the CMCO, the work day ends at 4.30 p.m., which is kinda nice even if it's just for the next couple of weeks.

Let me tell you why I'm glad that it was a 4 day work week - in order to open and operate, companies have to declare online that they will follow DOSH (Department of Occupational Safety and Health) SOP of having to sanitise common areas 3 times a day, take everyone's temperature as they come in, yada yada. Lucky because it's still Ramadan, the pantry area won't need as much sanitising cos most of the office are still (theoretically) fasting. But the toilet, doorknobs, etc is a PITA lah. Also don't get me started on the daily DOSH SOP reports that companies have to fill out for the duration of the CMCO (so far) that they would have to keep.

But I just recently saw someplace that "Companies may resume business operations from May 4, 2020 without an approval letter from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Miti) and Covid-19 screening of workers is not mandatory, says the ministry"

EXCUSE ME?! WTFBBQ KNS LA THESE PEOPLE

  • Apparently there's now a local distributor of Cheesecake Factory cakes?
  • Good luck trying to enforce the "no interstate Raya visits"?
  • CBS announced that they renewed pretty much most of their roster for the new TV season. I dunno how they're gonna film their new season if social distancing is gonna be the norm? Also, sucks to be the handful of shows that didn't get renewed.
  • Like chicken pox parties, apparently COVID-19 parties are a thing now. #whitepeople
  • So the loan and hire purchase moratorium is back on again? Yeah?
  • I ordered a salad on GrabFood this week that didn't come with dressing (I've ordered enough salads to know that dressing usually comes in a tiny container). Complained to Grab about this and the best they could do was a RM5 on next (minimum RM10) order.
  • Didn't know Little Richard was still alive until news of his death this week.
Is anyone else glad that Monday's a holiday, or is it just me?
